Laundry for the Lord:

The deacons will collect money donations in any amount for Laundry for the Lord on March 8 and March 15 in Fellowship Hall after the worship service. The money buys vouchers for our homeless neighbors to use at the Laundromat in the mall across from our church.

Kingswood Methodist administers the program. As of last year, a voucher costs $6.50.

Operation Hope Tote 2015:

The deacons will have Hope Totes to distribute at the end of February to those in the congregation who would like to help this ministry, which provides hygiene products to the homeless.

Fill the Hope Tote bags with the items listed below and return them to church by March 22 for delivery to Sunday Breakfast Mission. Where possible, travel-size items work best.

  • Toothpaste and Toothbrush
  • Soap
  • Shampoo and Conditioner
  • Deodorant
  • Shaving Cream
  • Disposable Razors
  • Comb and Brush
  • Lotion
  • Socks
  • Tissues

Food Closet Needs for Easter:

We welcome ham or turkey donations for our Easter food baskets. Bring them to church by Sunday March 29 so we can distribute them to our 14 needy families before Easter, April 5. Please label donated hams or turkeys “for deacons” and put them in the church freezer.

We also need the following items. Place these donations in the wicker basket in the church entry on any Sunday. Reminder: We cannot give away outdated food in our food baskets. Thank you.

  • Potatos (boxed or canned)
  • Desserts (cake mixes, etc.)
  • Gravy
  • Stuffing

  • Canned vegetables and fruit
  • Applesauce
  • Jelly
  • Peanut butter
  • Cereal
  • Mac and cheese
  • Soup
  • Pasta
  • Pasta sauce

Meals on Wheels Desserts:

The deacons delivered 37 desserts weekly to the Newark Senior Center for the Meals on Wheels program.
